Mirabilia Festival present our “Scotland Focus,” a collaborative project by Aerial Edge, Dance House Glasgow, Indepen-dance, Conflux and Alex McCabe, funded by Creative Scotland.
Mirabilia, one of the EU's recognised European Festivals for Circus, Dance and Street Performance will be hosting a convoy of around 40 physical performers and industry representatives 5-8 July 2016.
The Scotland Showcase will present Plan B For Utopia (Joan Cleville Dance Company), Douglas (Robbie Synge) & We Are The Monsters (Colette Sadler/Stammer Productions) in several towns in the Piemonte region of Italy. Excerpts or works in progress including Krafla (Jack Webb), Not To Scale (Alex Rigg), #TRANS (Ema Jayne Park) & Welcome My Son (Phil Hardie), Chronophobia (Danuta Ramos & Ian Henderson), Gregor J Everest (Ruxy Cantir) & Sotto Improvvisazione (Suzi Cunningham).
In addition to our Showcase, 10 Scottish artists will take part in Mirabilia's Beyond all Borders workshop series, working with some of Europe's finest facilitators to hone skills from dance improvisation to tight wire and diablo, to processes of making - facilitated by Scottish-based Caroline Bowditch.
The Briggait-based project partners will meet with representatives of European Creation Centres and important cross-form residencies, in preparation for the Briggait space reopening in 2017-18.
2 Scottish critics, Gareth Vile & Lorna Irvine, will be connecting with European critics and following the Scotland Focus, so look out for forthcoming news and responses.
These are important times for Scotland in Europe. Mirabilia has recognised the wealth of talent in Scotland's physical performance sector and extended this invitation to forge lasting bonds for a collaborative future.
