Premiering as part of Go Dance 2014 at Theatre Royal, Glasgow
Tuesday 17 June 2014 7.30pm
6 dance companies | 72 dancers | 55 musicians | 7 choreographers | 1 vision
Building on the success The Making Music Overture at The Merchant City Festival in 2012, Dance House Glasgow and Helensburgh Orchestral Society have once again joined forces to deliver The Gadfly Project, a large-scale performance of dance with live musical accompaniment. Produced by Dance House Glasgow and part of the Glasgow 2014 Cultural Programme, The Gadfly Project celebrates Get Scotland Dancing and will see community dance groups from across Glasgow take to the stage of The Theatre Royal on the opening night of Go Dance 14. Set to the breathtaking score of The Gadfly Suite by Dmitri Shostakovitch, choregraphers have been invited to respond to an overarching theme of revolution and the human capacity to galvanise and rise against injustice.
